We read every message that comes through this form. We are a small independent project rather than a newsroom with a support desk, so replies typically take a few business days. Messages that report a specific factual problem with the data are the ones we prioritize, because those affect what every other visitor sees.
The fundraising figures on this site are pulled directly from Federal Election Commission filings and are displayed exactly as candidates reported them. If a number looks wrong, it is worth knowing that there are two very different causes, and they are resolved in different ways.
If the error exists in the underlying FEC filing itself, we cannot change it, and we will not overwrite the public record. That correction has to come from the campaign amending its report with the Commission. Once the amended filing is processed, the corrected figure appears here automatically, because we query the FEC in real time rather than storing our own copy.
If instead the error is ours, for example a candidate matched to the wrong race, a district labeled incorrectly, a duplicate entry, or a candidate who has withdrawn but still appears, that is something we can and will fix. Reports like these are genuinely useful to us. When you write, it helps enormously if you include the state, the office, the candidate name, and what you expected to see instead.
Questions about the data. If you are unsure how to interpret a figure, our Learn guides and the campaign finance glossary cover most common questions, including the difference between total raised and cash on hand and why outside spending does not appear in a candidate's own totals. If the answer is not there, ask us.
Scope and coverage. We are frequently asked why a particular race is not included. Our coverage page explains exactly which states, offices, and figures we track, and the known limits of the public record.
Press and research. Journalists, students, and researchers are welcome to use what they find here. We are happy to explain our methodology or point you toward the underlying FEC source for any figure on the site.
Corrections to our written guides. Campaign finance law changes, and court decisions reshape it. If one of our explainers has fallen out of date or states something inaccurately, tell us and we will review and update it.
To set expectations honestly: we are not affiliated with the Federal Election Commission or any government agency, so we cannot assist with filing reports, compliance questions, or anything involving your own committee's paperwork. Those questions belong with the FEC directly. We also do not accept requests to remove, adjust, or reframe lawfully disclosed public filing data, and we do not publish sponsored content or accept payment for coverage of any candidate.
